Based on the arcade-style format first introduced with the Tony Hawk's RIDE game, SHRED centers around a skateboard control peripheral that users with for a more engaging experience when snowboarding or skateboarding. Abandoning much of the skatepark-style realism of the early games in the series, this edition sees riders leaping off of buildings, grinding on rainbows and leaving massive craters when they land a particularly high maneuver. The addition of a full snowboard component is a feature never-before-seen in the series, with a number of popular playable riders that include Travis Rice, Louis Vito and Torah Bright. In addition, SHRED supports character customization via Nintendo's "Mii" software as well as Microsoft's Xbox Avatar system. The title is available as a standalone disc (price listed) or as part of a bundle that includes the hardware controller.
