Building on the features introduced in Rock Band 2, this third release has been expanded to support three-part vocal harmony and is also compatible with a 25-key midi keyboard for enhanced realism. "Pro Mode" enables users to recreate their favorite songs more authentically than ever, with 102-button guitar controller support and drum set controller add-ons that cover every beat of a given piece. Further intricacies come with the inclusion of trills and tremolo picking for guitars, as well as buzz strokes and rolls for drums. Since the online "Rock Band Network" will include over 2000 songs by the end of October 2010, a new method of searching has been introduced with this edition that enables users to filter results by difficulty, genre, decade, instrument support and more. The "Career Mode" function features an updated character customization engine that is more realistic than ever, with additional minigame-style "Road Challenges" providing small sidequests that contribute to the development of a character's story. A stripped-down version of Rock Band 3 for the Nintendo DS is also in development, and is rumored for release in early 2011.
