Left 4 Dead
$50.00
Released November, 2008
The Pros:Intelligent 'game director' spawns enemies specifically based on in game events and players skills/situations - never a dull moment. Great to play with friends - co-op survival gameplay has never been this good, and it really adds to the fun and excitement. Source engine remains fast and pretty even on older hardware.
The Cons:Only 20 levels. Expensive for what it is. Boring single player gameplay - no good story, characters or replay value.
Introduced on November 18th 2008, Left 4 Dead is an online zombie survival game by Valve. Based on the source engine, the online multiplayer aspect is the main attraction on the game - pitting 4 user survivors of a zombie apocalypse against hoards of zombie cannon fodder and 4 "infected" super mutants - also played by real people.

The point of the game is for the survivors to make their way across the map as fast as possible without dying - due to the fact that amunition and health supplies are in limited supply, while zombie players main objectives are to stop them.

#left_4_dead Seriously, I don't get this game. I can see using it for tournaments, but its boring as heck. Not to sound fanboyish, but you might as well just play Halo. Hell, even play MW2. This game had a decent amount of potential, but it just sucks. Majorly.

#left_4_dead Awesome game for zombie fans! Incredible game-play; the zombies actually run screaming at you for once instead of just hobbling around. The AI director sends hordes upon hordes at you if you stay in one spot which I can only imagine would happen if there really was some sort of infection.
The game is not without its flaws however; it does get quite old after a little while as you are stuck playing the same few levels and missions over and over in both versus and single player. Many of the online servers seem to be quite laggy; hopefully this issue will be addressed with updates in the future. One other little peeve I have is the fact that setting up a custom server does not allow much customization in the way of options.
Keep in mind the game is very limited; but it is still great nonetheless. Valve certainly could have improved maybe just a little more before release but hopefully in the future they will update the game with more features like they have with their other titles.
