It follows the protagonist from the first game, Sora, and details his ascent through a castle in search of companions. The game is the first GBA title to feature full-motion videos. The player somewhat determines the course of the game through playing "map" cards, which alter the layout of rooms in the castle. Battle sequences constitute the player using cards in real-time to perform actions, and different cards can be played in combinations for different effects. There are unlockable game modes as well, including an alternate narrative of the same game and a 2-player battle mode.
